Recruiting Strategies for High Demand Jobs
You must have experienced this before: dozens and even hundreds of applications for a job opening, and now you are faced with the dilemma of recruiting the best and most suitable persons for the job. Every job is demanding depending on the qualities of the people applying for them.
So many times, it is not the challenge of finding the right employee with the suitable skills, it is finding the suitable person among the myriad of potentially good employees. Some people are simply unemployable- they don’t possess the qualities befitting of the job they are applying for.
Nevertheless, the following strategies can be used by employers in recruiting employees especially in high demand jobs:
1.Recruit from related industry
Companies in the same field or industry are most likely going to have people who fit into your own company, because they do similar business with you. You may have to attend a job fair where you will have the opportunity to network with potential employees and share the benefits of working in your company with them.
If you see someone that was able to convince you, then you can consider hiring the person. Having the academic qualifications are quite different from having the zeal or passion for the work.
You may also do targeted advertising to attract such people with related experience in your industry. One benefit of attracting experienced employees is that they bring in a different perspective to their new jobs. Be aware too that they may require a higher pay from you.
2.Offer attractive benefits
Following from the above strategy, attracting employees from competitors can only be feasible if you can dangle a better carrot before the potential employee. This could come in form of better benefits, salaries or bonuses that will motivate them to leave their previous places of work and join you- employees love going to places that have better job prospects like better salaries, housing, accommodation, wardrobe allowances and so on.
Except in situations where the employee are already planning to leave. Otherwise you have a lot of work to do if you want to attract the best from your competitors. While doing this, make sure that they really deserve the extra pay, and that it doesn’t upset your own company’s payment structure- you need to do it in accordance with your stipulated payment structure.
3.Inquire after former employees
This might a bit difficult, but in situations where a former leaves the company in good terms, they could be attracted back to the company.
As long as their presence will add value to your business, it doesn’t hurt at all to even attract them with higher pay or benefits. After all, all you want is the growth of the company, and that comes to reality with the very best of staff working for you- there is no point stressing the fact that your company will witness outstanding growth when you employ the right staff.
4.Visit colleges and institutions
Getting newly graduated people who could work with you, can be a bargain as you have a large pool of people to choose from. The best time to get them is during their graduation days or ceremonies- meeting the head of their departments or the institutions’ management ahead of time will yield better results, because they will provide you a list of vibrant graduates that will suit your job specifications. Another good quality is that these young graduates have the passion to work more than the old-schooled.
They also may not need much higher salaries and benefits as compared to those who already have the experience from related industries. You may even target the very best students graduating in your related field of business; you just have to spend time to give them the appropriate training to better fit into your company.
5.Use recruiting agencies
When you don’t want to handle the process of recruiting, the process can be done by recruitment agencies. You must make sure you give in very clear terms the skills, experience and type of employee you are expecting. Though this method can be a bit expensive for you, it could be worth the headache of doing everything yourself.
